NAT gateway: connect private servers through one public IP
Connect private network servers to the internet securely through a single public IP
- Choose up to 3Gbit/s
- Inbound connections blocked by default
- Used with a private network
A NAT gateway is a managed network device that lets private network servers without public IPs reach the outside internet through a single public IP. HELPER VPS NAT gateway starts at $11.93 per month for the up to 100Mbit/s size, and attaches to one private network so all the servers in it share it.

What setups is a NAT gateway used for?
If you have servers that need to reach out but do not need to be reached directly from outside, a NAT gateway is the cleanest approach. Here are four common setups.
Protecting databases and internal servers
Keep databases, caches and job servers only on a private network without public IPs, and get package updates and security patches through the NAT gateway. With no address visible from outside, the attack surface shrinks greatly.
App servers behind web servers
The load balancer receives user connections, while the app servers behind it keep only private addresses and call payment processors, mail sending and external APIs through the NAT gateway. You get a setup with one front door and a closed back door.
Integrations that need a fixed outbound IP
If a partner's API accepts requests only from allowed IPs, register just the NAT gateway's single public IP. Even when you add or change servers, the address seen from outside stays the same, so there is no allow list to update again.
Kubernetes worker nodes
Keep Kubernetes nodes on a private network and send container image downloads and external calls through the NAT gateway. Even as node counts grow, the outbound path is managed in one place.
How is a NAT gateway different from giving each server a public IP?
Both let servers reach the internet, but they differ in security and management. If you have many servers that need not be visible from outside, a NAT gateway fits; if servers receive users directly, public IPs fit.
NAT gateway
A setup where private servers go out together through one public IP
Best for
- Databases and internal job servers
- When you want to fix your outbound IP to a single address
- When you want to block inbound connections from the start
- Setups where the number of servers changes often
Public IP per server
The standard setup where each server uses its own dedicated IPv4 and IPv6
Best for
- Web servers that receive users directly
- Services run on one or two servers
- When each server needs a different IP
- When starting right away with no extra devices
Load balancer
A device that spreads inbound connections across several servers
Best for
- In front of several web servers
- Services that carry on even if one server stops
- Managing HTTPS certificates in one place
- When splitting front and back together with a NAT gateway
How does a NAT gateway work?
When a server in the private network sends a request to an outside address, the request follows the default route to the NAT gateway. The NAT gateway replaces the sender address with its own public IP, sends it out to the internet, and passes the returning response back to the server it remembered. Servers keep only private addresses and connect to package repositories, external APIs and time servers as usual.
Connections started from outside are blocked by default. Only responses to connections started by private servers come back, so databases and admin tools are never exposed directly to the internet. The most common setup has a load balancer or a single web server with a public IP receive requests that must come in from outside, such as user connections, and keeps the rest of the servers inside.
One NAT gateway attaches to one private network, and all the servers in that network share it. Adding or deleting servers leaves the gateway settings unchanged, so even services that scale servers up and down often manage their outbound path in one place.
How much does a NAT gateway cost per month?
NAT gateway S, handling up to 100Mbit/s, is $11.93 per month. M, up to 1Gbit/s, is $22.40 per month, and L, up to 3Gbit/s, is $201.45 per month, with the outbound public IPv4 address included in the prices in the table.
Choose the size by how much your private servers send and receive outward at the same time. For updates and API calls, S is enough; if you often download container images or exchange large files with external storage, choose M. For large services with many nodes talking to the outside at once, L is the right fit.
Payment is made with USDT. Pay the first month when you order, then renew at the same amount on each renewal date. We connect the private network for free, so you can easily work out the total cost from just the server and NAT gateway fees.
In what order do I start a NAT gateway setup?
First, group the servers you will keep inside into a private network in the same region. Once your first payment is confirmed, tell us the servers on the support page and our team connects them for free. Let servers that do not need to be visible outside, such as databases and worker servers, talk to each other only over private addresses, and open only the web servers or load balancers that receive visitor traffic on public addresses. Separating the front and the inside like this first makes the setup clear at a glance.
Next, order a NAT gateway on the order page and tell us the private network to connect on the support page. Once our team attaches the gateway and sends you its private address, set the default route of the inside servers to the gateway's private address and confirm outbound access with a package update or an external API call. From outside, traffic appears from the gateway's single public IP.
Finally, register the gateway's public IP in the allow lists of partners and external services, and open only the needed ports on front servers with the cloud firewall. When you add servers later, ask us to attach the new server to the same private network and just set the default route, and it joins the same setup right away.
How much does a NAT gateway cost?
HELPER VPS NAT gateway starts at $11.93 per month. Choose from three sizes by throughput, with the outbound public IP included in the monthly price in the table.
Flat monthly pricing
A flat monthly rate set by throughput, so you know in advance what this month costs. The price is the same however many servers are in the private network.
Inside servers closed from the start
Connections started from outside are blocked by default. Your inside servers are not exposed to the internet even without writing separate firewall rules.
An outbound address that does not change
All private servers go out through the NAT gateway's single public IP. Register just one address in a partner's allow list and it keeps working as you add servers.

Why choose HELPER VPS NAT gateway
A managed network device
No need to build and update a NAT server yourself. Order a gateway and our team attaches it to your private network so inside servers can reach out right away.
Three throughput options
Choose from three: up to 100Mbit/s, 1Gbit/s or 3Gbit/s. As your service grows, move to a bigger size and keep the same setup.
Connected directly to a private network
Attaches to one private network grouping servers in the same region. The private network is free, so internal traffic adds no cost.
Inbound connections blocked by default
Only responses to connections started by inside servers come back. Run databases and admin tools without exposing them to the internet.
A fixed outbound public IP
All private servers go out through the same public IPv4. Register just one address with external APIs and partner firewalls.
Together with the cloud firewall
Protect front servers with public IPs using the cloud firewall, and send inside servers out through the NAT gateway, splitting front and back cleanly.
Choose from 40 regions
Place the gateway in the same region as your private network, in any of the 40 cities where you can create servers. Bring your whole service together close to the countries with the most users.
Renews monthly
Pay with USDT and renew the monthly fee on each renewal date. Manage it together with your servers.
Order and manage in one account
Order servers, private networks and NAT gateways in one account and pay. For setup changes, request them on the support page once your first payment is confirmed and we will help.
Where can I create a NAT gateway?
You can order NAT gateways in the 40 cities where you can create VPS. Place the gateway in the same region as the private network it connects to, and bring your whole service together in a city close to the countries with the most users for faster responses.

NAT gateway FAQ
Answers on NAT gateway pricing, how it works and setup
How much does a NAT gateway cost per month?
NAT gateway S, up to 100Mbit/s, is $11.93 per month. M, up to 1Gbit/s, is $22.40, and L, up to 3Gbit/s, is $201.45, with the outbound public IPv4 included in the prices in the table.
What is a NAT gateway?
A device that translates addresses so private servers without public IPs can reach the outside internet through a single public IP. It returns only responses to connections started by private servers, keeping inside servers hidden from the outside.
Do I need a private network?
Yes, a NAT gateway attaches to one private network and the servers in it share it. Private networks are connected for free when you request them on the support page once your first payment is confirmed, and servers in the same region connect over private addresses.
Can outside traffic reach my inside servers?
Connections started from outside are blocked by default. Requests that must come in from outside, such as user connections, are received by a load balancer or a web server with a public IP and passed to inside servers over the private network.
Is the outbound IP address fixed?
Each NAT gateway gets one public IPv4 and keeps the same address as long as you use the gateway. Register just this one address in the allow lists of external APIs or partner firewalls.
Which size should I choose?
For package updates and API calls, S is enough. If you often pull container images or exchange large files with external storage, choose M; for large services with many nodes, choose L.
How many servers can I connect?
All servers in the private network the gateway is attached to share it. The monthly price is the same regardless of the number of servers, and throughput goes up to the maximum of the size you choose.
How do I pay?
Pay with USDT. Pay the first month, then renew at the same amount on each renewal date. Refunds go to your account credit.
What happens if it is not renewed?
If your gateway is not renewed on the renewal date, it pauses for a while, and once you renew it starts automatically again. While it is paused, inside servers cannot reach out, so renew before the renewal date.
Can I send email?
Port 25 for sending mail is blocked to prevent spam. Send notification emails through port 587 or 465 of an external mail sending service and they go out through the NAT gateway as usual.
