Need a faster disk and CPU? High-performance NVMe VPS

What is a cloud VPS used for?

Most always-on work, such as websites, development servers, automation bots, VPNs and small databases, runs fine on a single cloud VPS. Here are four common uses and the specs that fit them.

Standard SSD or high-performance NVMe: which should I choose?

Both types have the same regions, the same operating systems and the same billing. The difference is disk speed, CPU generation and price. Standard suits light work; high performance suits disk-heavy work.

Standard SSD cloud VPS

The basic VPS, the most affordable way to start

Best for

  • Websites and blogs with steady demand
  • Development and test servers and personal VPNs
  • Personal projects where budget comes first
  • Spreading work across several small servers

High-performance NVMe VPS

For work that needs fast disks and CPUs

Best for

  • Databases and search engines
  • Online stores and API servers with traffic peaks
  • Disk-heavy jobs such as builds and compression
  • Services where response time directly drives revenue

What is a cloud VPS, and how is it different from shared hosting?

A cloud VPS splits a large physical server into several independent servers with virtualization. Each server runs its own operating system, gets a fixed share of vCPU, memory and disk, and comes with root administrator access. So you can install software, configure the firewall, open ports and restart services freely, just like on your own server.

With shared hosting, many customers share one server's web server and database, so the software you can install is limited and speed depends on the sites next to you. With a cloud VPS, everything from the operating system up is yours, so you can run any software you like, and when you need more power you create a server of a bigger type and move over.

Compared with a dedicated server (bare metal), a cloud VPS is created in minutes and starts at a few dollars a month. The most cost-effective path is to start with a cloud VPS and move to a dedicated CPU VPS or bare metal dedicated server once you have work that keeps the CPU near 100%.

How much does a cloud VPS cost?

HELPER VPS cloud VPS starts at $25.00 per month for standard SSD with 6 vCPU and 12 GB memory. The monthly price in the table is all you pay; only the options you choose at creation are added, and it renews at the same amount every month.

Cloud VPS FAQ

Answers on cloud VPS pricing, payment and choosing specs

How much does a cloud VPS cost per month?

A standard SSD server with 6 vCPU, 12 GB memory and 260 GB SSD is $25.00 per month. 16 GB is $32.00, 24 GB is $48.00, 32 GB is $64.00, and the largest, 16 vCPU with 64 GB, is $128.00 per month. The amount in the table is the full monthly price; automatic backups, extra disks and DDoS protection are added only if you choose them.

How do I pay for a VPS?

Pay an invoice with 12 crypto options to create a server. You pay for the chosen period upfront, and renew by paying another invoice for the same period before it ends. Refunds go to your account credit.

What happens to my server if I don't pay the renewal invoice?

If you don't pay the renewal invoice when the period ends, the server is suspended, and you can renew it again by paying within 3 days. After 3 days the server and its data are deleted, so pay the renewal invoice before the period ends.

What is the difference between standard SSD and high-performance NVMe?

Standard SSD is the basic type with the lowest price, and high-performance NVMe uses faster NVMe disks and the latest CPUs. Standard is plenty for websites and development servers, while high performance responds faster for databases and disk-heavy services.

How long does it take to create a VPS?

Creation starts as soon as you click Create, and the server is usually running within a few minutes. When it is ready, the control panel shows the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses and the root password, and for security you can view the password again for 7 days.

Which operating systems can I use?

Choose from Ubuntu 26.04, 24.04 and 22.04 LTS, Debian 13 and 12, AlmaLinux 10 and 9, Rocky Linux 10 and 9, CentOS Stream 10 and 9, and FreeBSD 14. The Docker, WordPress, LEMP and Node.js one-click apps come installed on Ubuntu 24.04.

Can I change specs or reinstall the operating system later?

You can reinstall the operating system right from the control panel and switch to a different one too. If you need bigger specs, create a new server in the size you want and move over, or request a spec change on the support page and we will explain how.

How many servers can I create in one account?

You can create up to {max-servers} servers per account. You can mix regions and types, so a setup with one server each in the Americas, Europe and Asia is managed from the same account.

Can I run a mail server?

Port 25 for sending mail is closed to prevent spam. You can send website notification emails through port 587 or 465 of an external mail sending service, and receiving mail and all other ports work as usual.

Do I get root access?

Yes, every cloud VPS gives you root administrator access. You decide on software, firewall rules, kernel settings and services yourself, and you can use it for any purpose other than the spam, attacks and illegal content banned by our acceptable use policy.
