Dokploy VPS hosting: a deploy dashboard in one line

  • Installed with one official install script line
  • Plans with 8 GB memory or more recommended
  • Root access and public IPv4 and IPv6 addresses

The HELPER VPS Dokploy VPS is a Linux cloud server where you run the open source deploy tool Dokploy yourself, from $25.00 per month. Choose the Docker app image (or Ubuntu) when you create the server, connect over SSH and run the official one-line install command, and you can deploy apps, Docker Compose and databases easily from the web dashboard on port 3000.

    What is Dokploy?

Dokploy is an open source self-hosting platform for easily deploying and managing apps and databases on your own server. Connect a Git repository or point to a Docker image and it builds and deploys for you, and when you enter a domain the Traefik proxy adds a Let's Encrypt HTTPS certificate automatically. It supports Nixpacks, Buildpacks and Dockerfile builds, so you can deploy apps in many languages.

With Dokploy you can paste a Docker Compose file as is to start a multi-container service in one go, and create PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB and Redis databases in the dashboard with backups to S3 compatible storage. Internally it uses Docker Swarm, so you can also attach other servers as nodes, and the dashboard opens on port 3000 by default.

What can I do with a Dokploy VPS?

Bring your whole deploy process into one dashboard on a single self-hosted Dokploy server.

How do I buy a Dokploy server?

From your first payment to your first deploy takes three steps.

    1. Step 1. Choose a plan with 12 GB or more

Choose a payment method, select a city close to your users, and pick a plan with 8 GB memory or more.

    2. Step 2. Create with the Docker app image

Choose Docker (or Ubuntu 24.04 LTS) as the image and a server is created, ready to install Dokploy right away.

    3. Step 3. Connect over SSH and run the command

Connect over SSH as root, run the command below, then open SERVER_IP:3000 in your browser and create the admin account.

    How do I install Dokploy?

Connect over SSH as root to a server created with the Docker app image or Ubuntu and run the official install command. The script prepares Docker Swarm, Traefik and the Dokploy containers in turn. Dokploy uses ports 80, 443 and 3000, so start on a clean server with no other web server running, and when installation finishes create the admin account at http://SERVER_IP:3000.

    Terminal
    curl -sSL https://dokploy.com/install.sh | sh

Why install Dokploy on your own VPS?

With a Dokploy VPS you enjoy an easy deploy dashboard together with the freedom of your own server.

    Technology used with Dokploy

Dokploy deploys apps and databases built with the technologies below straight onto your Dokploy VPS.

Place your server close to your users

Create Dokploy servers at the same price anywhere in 40 cities across 31 countries.

How much memory does a Dokploy VPS need?

Dokploy recommends 2 GB memory or more and a 30 GB disk or more. Dokploy itself, Traefik and an internal database run together, so this is enough to deploy a few small apps comfortably, and the HELPER VPS d8 plan (2 vCPU, 8 GB, 100 GB NVMe) is a good fit. Building images on the server uses a lot of memory, so if you deploy often, a 16 GB plan gives you more room.

If you run several Compose services and databases together, we recommend a 4 vCPU, 32 GB plan. Docker images and build caches take up disk space as they pile up, so occasionally remove unused images with the cleanup feature in the Dokploy dashboard, or add an extra disk at creation. As your services grow, attach other servers to Dokploy and spread your deploys across them.

What should I set up after starting a self-hosted Dokploy?

After creating the admin account, set a domain for the Dokploy dashboard in the settings so it opens over HTTPS, and from then on use the domain instead of port 3000. Connect your Git provider, create a project and enter a domain for each app, and Traefik gets the certificate and connects it automatically. Point your domain's A record to the server IP in advance.

Once you create databases, register S3 compatible storage and turn on backup schedules. Choosing the server's automatic backups option (5.6% of the plan price) as well saves the whole server regularly too. To send email from your apps, connect a mail sending service that uses port 587 through environment variables, and update Dokploy with a button in the settings.

    Dokploy hosting FAQ

Common questions when choosing and installing a Dokploy VPS.

Is Dokploy installed with one click on a Dokploy VPS?

Create a server with the Docker app image or Ubuntu, then connect over SSH as root and run the official one-line install command. Paste curl -sSL https://dokploy.com/install.sh | sh and installation finishes within a few minutes.

How much memory does Dokploy need?

Dokploy recommends 2 GB memory or more and a 30 GB disk or more. At HELPER VPS we recommend starting from Dedicated CPU 8 GB (2 vCPU, 8 GB, 100 GB NVMe), and if you build on the server often, a 16 GB plan is more comfortable.

Where do I connect after installation?

Open http://SERVER_IP:3000 in your browser to see the Dokploy dashboard and create the admin account. After that, set a domain in the settings to access it securely at an HTTPS address.

Which ports need to be free?

Dokploy uses ports 80, 443 and 3000. A newly created Docker app image or Ubuntu server has these ports free, so you can install right away; if you use a firewall, open them along with port 22.

Does it work on a server with Docker already installed?

Yes, it installs with the same command on a server created with the Docker app image. The script checks Docker, prepares Swarm and networking, and then starts the Dokploy containers.

Can I use my Docker Compose files as they are?

Yes. Create a Compose service in Dokploy and paste in your docker-compose.yml, or point to the file path in your repository. Connect a domain for each service separately in the dashboard.

How do I back up databases?

Register S3-compatible storage in Dokploy and set a backup schedule for each database, and backups are saved automatically. Use the server's automatic backup option as well to keep the whole server, and request restores on the support page after your first payment.

    Can I add other servers?

Yes. Add remote servers with SSH keys in the Dokploy dashboard, or attach them as Swarm nodes, to spread your app deploys. You can create up to 10 servers per account.

    How do I update Dokploy?

Check for a new version in the Dokploy settings and click the update button. You can also upgrade directly over SSH with the update command in the official docs.

    Can my apps send email?

Yes. Put a mail sending service that uses port 587 in your app's environment variables. Outgoing port 25 is closed on HELPER VPS servers, so email is connected this way.

How do I pay for a Dokploy server?

Payment for your chosen plan and period is processed immediately when you create a server. Choose 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, with 10% off for 3 months, 15% off for 6 months and 25% off for 12 months. Pay the renewal invoice before the period ends to keep your server running.

Dokploy is an open source project made by the Dokploy team and its community, and the rights to the Dokploy name and logo belong to their owner. Installing, updating and configuring Dokploy and support for the apps you deploy are your responsibility. Dokploy has no extra cost, and the server price is exactly the price of the plan you choose.
