When do I need additional IPv4 for a VPS?
For most services, the standard single IPv4 is enough. Add additional IPv4 when you want to split several services on one server by address, or when each service needs its own visible address. Here are four common cases.
Running several websites on separate addresses
Use additional IPv4 when you run several websites on one server and want to give each site a different IP address. With addresses split by site, management and migration get easier.
Addresses split by service
When running several services on one server, such as a web server, VPN and admin tools, splitting addresses by service keeps firewall rules and access logs neatly organized by address.
Services opened over IPv6
Every server comes with an IPv6 /64 range, so you can serve IPv6 users right away. Give each container or virtual service its own IPv6 address with plenty to spare.
Services that need reverse DNS
Set reverse DNS, which links a domain name to your server address, yourself. A good fit for showing your server name in access logs or for services that need addresses and domains to match.
How do IPv4 and IPv6 differ?
The two kinds of addresses are best used together. IPv4 is the address almost every user uses, and IPv6 is the newer system with plenty of addresses. HELPER VPS servers come with both by default, so you welcome users on any network to the same service with no separate request.
IPv4 addresses
One dedicated address per server by default, more if needed
Best for
- Websites and APIs that every user connects to
- Connections with outside services that use only IPv4
- Public addresses split by service
- Reverse DNS matched to your domain
IPv6 addresses
A free /64 range per server
Best for
- Serving users who connect over IPv6
- When giving each container its own address
- Test environments that use addresses generously
- Dual-stack services opened alongside IPv4
Can I get IPv6 addresses on a VPS?
Yes, every HELPER VPS server comes with an IPv6 /64 range by default. No request or fee needed: once the server is created, the control panel shows its IPv6 address along with its IPv4 address. A /64 range holds a huge number of addresses, plenty for giving each service or container its own address within a single server.
Open IPv6 as well and users on IPv6 connect over IPv6 while everyone else connects over IPv4 to the same service. This is called dual stack, and you start simply by adding both an A record and an AAAA record to your domain. Add one line to your web server config so it listens on the IPv6 address too.
You can set reverse DNS yourself for IPv6 addresses too, and add IPv6 ranges to your cloud firewall rules to protect them on the same principles as IPv4. Turn on IPv6 settings in the firewall inside the server too, and both addresses are managed at the same level. The firewall is free for every server, so use it alongside with no extra cost.
How do I use additional IPv4 for a VPS, and how much is it?
Every server includes one dedicated IPv4 address in the server price. This address is used by that server alone, never shared with other customers. If you need more addresses, add additional IPv4 to the server at $0.31 per IP per month, added for each address.
Use added IPv4 addresses by putting them in the server operating system's network settings, then configure services such as web servers or VPNs to listen on the address you want. You can set reverse DNS separately for each address, matching domain names per service. Even within one server, each service welcomes users with its own address and name.
The additional IPv4 fee is paid together with the server fee. You keep the same addresses as long as you use the server, and when you delete the server its addresses are cleaned up too. If you only want to change the operating system, use reinstall.
What if I need more VPS transfer?
Servers that need more monthly transfer can add extra traffic by the TB. The price is $0.63 per TB per month, and you choose from 1TB to 100TB per server. You can increase transfer alone without moving the server to a bigger size, making it a good fit for traffic-heavy services such as video, downloads and backup transfers.
How much do IP addresses cost?
An IPv6 /64 range and one dedicated IPv4 are included on every server by default. Only extra IPv4 addresses you need are added, at $0.31 per IP per month.
Free IPv6 /64
Every server comes with an IPv6 /64 range. Use it right away once your server is created, with no request or fee. Just add an AAAA record to your domain to serve IPv6 users too.
1 dedicated IPv4 included
Every server includes one IPv4 address used by that server alone in the server price. This one address is enough for most websites and APIs.
Additional IPv4 at $0.31 per IP per month
Extra addresses are added at $0.31 per IP per month for each address and paid together with the server fee. Add only what you need, when you need it, to save costs.

Why choose HELPER VPS IP addresses
Dedicated IPv4 included
Every server includes one IPv4 address used by that server alone, so you can launch your service as soon as it is created. The address is not shared with other customers, so you configure it based on your own server.
Free IPv6 /64 range
Every server comes with an IPv6 /64 range to share out generously. Even giving each container and test environment its own address leaves plenty of room.
Additional IPv4 as you need it
If you need more addresses, add IPv4 to your server at $0.31 per IP per month. The fee is added per address, keeping the math simple.
Reverse DNS setup
Set reverse DNS yourself for both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses to match addresses with domains. You can set a separate name for each service's address.
Shown right in the control panel
When the server is ready, its IPv4 and IPv6 addresses appear in the control panel so you can connect your domain right away. Just put them in your A and AAAA records as they are.
Addresses in 40 regions
Create servers in 40 regions and launch your service on addresses in the country closest to your users.
Together with the firewall
Set rules by address and port with the cloud firewall and accept only the connections you need. The firewall is free for every server.
Check addresses with the API
After your first payment, read your server list with the API to check each server's IPv4 and IPv6 addresses from code.
Paid with the server
The additional IPv4 fee is paid together with the server fee. Manage server and address fees in one place.
Which regions can I get IP addresses in?

IP addresses FAQ
Answers on VPS additional IPv4, IPv6 and reverse DNS
Can I get IPv6 addresses on a VPS?
Yes, every server comes with an IPv6 /64 range by default. No request or fee needed: once the server is created, the control panel shows its IPv6 address along with its IPv4 address. Add an AAAA record to your domain and users connecting over IPv6 reach the same service right away.
How much is additional IPv4 for a VPS?
It is $0.31 per IP per month. One dedicated IPv4 per server is already included in the server price, and you add only the extra addresses you need. The fee for added addresses is paid together with the server fee. The IPv6 /64 range is free.
Is the standard IPv4 address shared with others?
No, the standard IPv4 that comes with each server is a dedicated address used by that server alone. It is not shared with other customers' services, so you set firewall rules, domain connections and reverse DNS based on your own server. When the server is ready, the control panel shows its IPv4 and IPv6 addresses together so you can connect your domain right away.
How do I set up reverse DNS?
Reverse DNS is a setting that links a domain name to an IP address, and you can set it for the standard IPv4, additional IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. First point your domain's A or AAAA record to the server address, then put the same name in reverse DNS, and the address and domain match in both directions.
How do I attach additional IPv4 to my server?
Once you add additional IPv4 to your server, put that address in the server operating system's network settings. On Ubuntu add it to the netplan settings, on AlmaLinux and Rocky Linux to the NetworkManager settings, and configure your web server or VPN to listen on the address you want.
How big is an IPv6 /64 range?
A /64 range holds an enormous number of addresses, so many that even giving each service, container and test environment within one server its own address, you would struggle to use them all. That is why we do not count IPv6 addresses and give each server one range for free. Use it right away, no request needed.
Can I use only IPv4?
Yes, the standard single IPv4 is enough to serve all your users. IPv6 comes attached too, so when you need it, add an AAAA record to your domain and a line to your web server config. With both addresses open, users on any network connect in the way that suits them best. Keep your firewall rules aligned for both too.
What happens to IP addresses when I delete a server?
When you delete a server, the standard IPv4, additional IPv4 and IPv6 addresses attached to it are cleaned up together. If you want to keep serving at the same place, move your domain settings to the new server's address before deleting, and if you only want to change the operating system, use OS reinstall instead of delete and your addresses stay as they are.
Which country's IP addresses do I get?
Your server gets addresses from the region where it is created. Choose the location closest to the countries with the most users among 40 cities: 12 in the Americas, 11 in Europe, 5 in the Middle East and Africa, and 12 in Asia Pacific. The closer the region, the faster the connection.
Can I use the IP for a mail server?
Port 25, used for sending mail, is blocked on every server to prevent spam. Send website notification emails through port 587 or 465 of an external sending service. Reverse DNS settings and all other ports are free to use as your service needs. Open services such as web, API and VPN as you like on your dedicated IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.
