What is a container VPS used for?

For small, always-on services that use little memory, a container VPS is the lightest fit. Here are four common uses and the sizes that fit them.

How is a container VPS different from a regular cloud VPS?

Both come with root access and a dedicated IP, but the virtualization differs. To start light and fast, a container VPS fits; to work with the kernel yourself, a cloud VPS fits.

Container VPS

A light server sharing the Linux kernel

Best for

  • Small websites and bots
  • Services that are fine with around 16GB of memory
  • Test servers that start in seconds
  • When starting at the lowest monthly price

Cloud VPS

A full virtual server with its own kernel

Best for

  • When running Docker and Kubernetes yourself
  • When you need kernel modules such as WireGuard
  • When you want FreeBSD or a different kernel
  • When using extra disk and automatic backups options

Yearly cheap VPS

A long-running server paid once a year

Best for

  • Personal servers kept on for a year or more
  • When you want fewer payments
  • Small services that need generous transfer
  • When you want an even lower monthly equivalent cost

How does a container VPS work?

A container VPS splits servers using isolation features provided by the Linux kernel, such as LXC. Each server has its own separate processes, file system, network and users, so from the inside you log in as root, install packages and start services just like a regular Linux server. It does not emulate the whole hardware, so the operating system starts in seconds and you get a bigger share of the same memory.

The kernel is shared with the host, so you choose your operating system from Linux distributions. After ordering, tell us the distribution you want and we prepare it as is. Popular distributions such as Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux and Rocky Linux all work as they are, and programs such as web servers, databases, Python, Node.js and PHP install with the usual commands. If you need to change the kernel version yourself or load kernel modules, choose a cloud VPS.

For programs that use a TUN device, such as OpenVPN, request TUN device support on the support page after your first payment and we will turn it on. Common Linux programs such as web services, bots and development tools work right away with no extra setup, and dedicated IPv4 and IPv6 addresses accept outside connections right away.

How much does a container VPS cost per month?

The smallest container VPS, 16GB, includes 6 vCPU and 300GB SSD for $25.00 per month. The 32GB server is $45.00, with IPv4 and IPv6 addresses included in the prices in the table.

Start with 16GB, and when traffic grows and memory runs short, order a new server in a larger size and move over. If you run several services, a setup with one container VPS per service works well too. While you fix one service, the others stay up, keeping management tidy.

Payment is made with USDT. Pay for the chosen period when you order, and pay a new invoice for each renewal. The minimum payment is $25.

What should I do first when using a container VPS?

When the server is ready, our team sends you the login details. First log in as root and change the password, then add your computer's SSH public key to the server to switch to key login for convenience and security. Then update the package lists and install only the programs you need, such as a web server or runtime, to use memory most efficiently.

Next is the firewall. Open only the ports needed for SSH and web services and close the rest, and even a small server stays well protected. To have services start automatically, create systemd service files. Even after the server restarts, your web server and bots come back up together within seconds.

Finally, build the habit of protecting your data. Copy config files and databases daily to another server or object storage and you can easily restore anything deleted by mistake. If you run several small servers, turn the same steps into a script and run it on each new server to cut setup time significantly.

Container VPS FAQ

Answers on container VPS pricing, virtualization and payment

How much does a container VPS cost per month?

The smallest container VPS, 16GB, is $25.00 per month. It includes 6 vCPU, 16GB memory, 300GB SSD and a dedicated IPv4. 32GB is $45.00, and the amount in the table is the full monthly price.

What is a container VPS?

A virtual server that gives each server its own isolated space using the Linux kernel's isolation features. From the inside, you log in as root and install programs like a regular Linux server. It does not emulate the whole hardware, so it is light and starts fast.

Which operating systems can I use?

It uses Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux and CentOS Stream. The kernel is shared with the host, so if you need Windows or FreeBSD, choose a Windows VPS or cloud VPS.

Can I install Docker?

A container VPS is itself a lightweight container, so installing programs directly works best. If you want to run several containers with Docker, create a cloud VPS, which has its own kernel, with the Docker one-click app and it starts with installation already done.

Can I use it as a VPN server?

For VPNs that use a TUN device, such as OpenVPN, request TUN device support on the support page after your first payment and we will turn it on. If you want WireGuard, which runs as a kernel module, the WireGuard one-click app on a cloud VPS is the fastest way.

How do I pay?

Pay with USDT and the exact amount is charged when you order. Once the payment is confirmed, the server is created, and you can renew it by paying the renewal invoice before the billing period ends. Refunds go to your account credit and are applied automatically to your next invoice.

What happens when the billing period ends?

When the billing period ends, the server stops, and if you pay the renewal invoice within 3 days, the server starts again. If not renewed, the server is deleted and the remaining time is not refunded.

Can I move to a bigger size?

Order a new container VPS in the size you want and move your data to get the bigger specs. We explain how to move on the support page after your first payment. Once everything is moved, cancel the old server and its fee stops.

Can I send email?

Port 25 for sending mail is blocked to prevent spam. Send notification emails through port 587 or 465 of an external mail sending service. Sign-up emails from websites and bots are handled the same way.

How many can I create in one account?

Order a separate container VPS for each service and manage them. You can have up to 20 orders waiting to be prepared at once. Up to 3 accounts can be created from the same IP.
